In January of 2023, with funding from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and the Province of Nova Scotia, the Scotia Rail Development Society and the Cape Breton Partnership sought the expertise of professionals to look at current economic opportunities related to the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway, in particular, the Sydney sub-division.
